A British advocacy organization that is advising the presidential campaign of Vice President Kamala Harris is allegedly planning to “kill” Big Tech billionaire Elon Musk’s social media platform X.
The Center for Countering Digital Hate (CCDH) is an advocacy organization based in London and with an office in Washington, D.C. whose supposed goal is countering so-called “online hate speech” and “disinformation.”
Internal documents obtained from whistleblowers claim that the CCDH has been plotting to kill Musk’s X since at least January 2024. (Related: Joe Rogan warns Elon Musk and other tech leaders that ONLINE CENSORSHIP will intensify if Harris-Walz ticket wins.)
The documents and other evidence were obtained by investigative journalists Matt Taibbi and Paul D. Thacker, who found that “Kill Musk’s Twitter” was the first order of business for the CCDH’s monthly agenda plans for every month since at least January 2024. To push their agenda of destroying X, CCDH documents noted that the organization plans to “focus” getting companies to boycott paying for ads on X.
Along with getting X’s revenues to plummet due to advertiser boycotts, CCDH also plans to get regulators in the U.K. and the European Union to open investigations against X, and to support politicians in the United States who will push more online censorship laws, including one proposed bill that would create an “independent digital regulator” in America who could “impose consequences” for so-called “harmful content.”
To help support the CCDH’s efforts to “kill Musk’s Twitter,” the organization has been working toward building relationships with the Democratic Party.
Back in May, the CCDH contacted Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) and organized an invitation-only conference in Washington – which the whistleblowers who supplied these documents to Thacker and Taibbi attended. The conference was meant to highlight the group’s priorities, including destroying X.
The conference was attended by a senior White House advisor, a staffer of Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA), several State Department officials and the vice president of Democrat-aligned watchdog organization Media Matters.
The CCDH seems to be emulating the campaign it used to ingratiate itself with the U.K.’s Labour Party. Politico has dubbed Labour as the “sister party” of the Democrats.
CCDH and a subsidiary organization that calls itself a think tank of the Labour Party, known as Labour Together, have been advising Harris’ campaign. In fact, a Labour Party official announced that about 100 current and former party staffers and activists are currently helping Harris’ campaign in the United States.
These activists are headed by political operative Morgan McSweeney, who previously served as a board member of the CCDH and attended the Democratic National Convention back in August to speak with Harris’ team. McSweeney was recently promoted as chief of staff of British Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s government.
Other Labour Party operatives confirmed that these 100 Labour activists have been working on the ground in North Carolina, Nevada, Pennsylvania and Virginia. Sofia Patel, head of operations for the Labour Party, claimed that these individuals are in the U.S. to “show the Democrats how to win elections.”
Their participation in Harris’ campaign is the first confirmed plan by foreign political operatives to help Harris win the election.
